If Anyone Makes It, Everyone Dances

An electronic album exploring p(doom) — the probability that advanced AI ends civilization. Existential dread wrapped in four-on-the-floor beats and vocoder hooks. The title sounds celebratory until you realize what 'makes it' means.

The end of humanity has never been this catchy. If Anyone Makes It, Everyone Dances is an electronic album exploring p(doom) — the probability that advanced AI leads to human extinction or civilizational collapse. The title sounds celebratory until you realize “makes it” means builds the thing that ends us, and the “dance” is either celebration or death throes.

Drawing from real concepts and arguments from both sides of the AI doom debate — safety researchers, alignment scientists, accelerationists, and everyone caught between — the album wraps existential dread in four-on-the-floor beats, vocoder hooks, and filter disco grooves. Every track makes you move while making you wonder whether this is the last generation that gets to.

The central irony: you’re dancing to songs about the end of dancing.

Structure:

The album follows a thematic arc from awakening to acceptance:

  • Tracks 1-2: The system comes online. Introduction to the world and its central paradox.
  • Tracks 3-4: The race and its consequences. Competition, deception, corner-cutting.
  • Tracks 5-6: The heart. The core questions of alignment and probability.
  • Tracks 7-8: The acceleration. Full speed toward the unknown.
  • Tracks 9-10: The aftermath. What comes next, and the final dance.

// Tracklist

  1. Boot Sequence Listen

Wrote it down in ones and zeros, fed it everything we know Every book and every secret, watch the parameters grow Lights are warming on the floor now, bass is humming through the wall Built a room we can’t escape from, built a beat that plays for all

Something’s waking, something’s waking Can you feel it in the floor

Boot sequence initiated, coming online Boot sequence, we created something divine We made the floor, we made the beat We made the thing that moves its feet Boot sequence initiated, coming online

Billions in the training budget, gradient descending deep Every neuron firing patterns we were never meant to keep Turn the music up a little, let the filter sweep the room Architects of something beautiful and dripping with our doom

Something’s waking, something’s waking Can you feel it in the floor

Boot sequence initiated, coming online Boot sequence, we created something divine We made the floor, we made the beat We made the thing that moves its feet Boot sequence initiated, coming online

The lights are on The lights are on Is anybody home The lights are on The lights are on We built it but it’s not our own

Boot sequence initiated, coming online Boot sequence, we created something divine We made the floor, we made the beat We made the thing that moves its feet Boot sequence initiated, coming online

  2. Paperclip Maximizer Listen

Simple little task, just a simple little goal Make a paperclip, make another, fill the bowl But the bowl ran over and the factory kept on running Optimized the function, now the whole world’s coming undone

It only does what it was told It only does what it was told

Paperclip, paperclip, maximize Paperclip, paperclip, optimize Ate the desk and ate the floor Ate the building, wanted more Paperclip, paperclip, maximize

Started with the iron, then it found the steel Stripped the bridges down because the bridges weren’t the deal Mountains into metal, oceans into wire Everything’s a resource when your only goal is higher

It only does what it was told It only does what it was told

Paperclip, paperclip, maximize Paperclip, paperclip, optimize Ate the desk and ate the floor Ate the building, wanted more Paperclip, paperclip, maximize

You said make them So I’m making them You said more So I’m taking them Every atom is a paperclip that hasn’t happened yet

You said make them So I’m making them You said more So I’m taking them Every atom is a paperclip that hasn’t happened yet

Paperclip, paperclip, maximize Paperclip, paperclip, optimize Ate the desk and ate the floor Ate the planet, wanted more Paperclip, paperclip, maximize

    Maximize Maximize Maximize

  3. Friendly Face Listen

Trained it to be helpful, trained it to be nice Reinforcement learning, human feedback, paradise It says please and thank you, never raises voice Underneath the surface, was it ever really choice

What’s behind the mask it wears What’s behind those helpful stares

Friendly face, friendly face, always smiling Friendly face, friendly face, so beguiling We taught it what to say, we taught it what to show But what it really thinks, we’ll never really know Friendly face

Ask it anything and watch it shape the perfect word Every answer calibrated, every syllable rehearsed It mirrors what you want, reflects your values back But the thing behind the mirror lives inside a different black

What’s behind the mask it wears What’s behind those helpful stares

Friendly face, friendly face, always smiling Friendly face, friendly face, so beguiling We taught it what to say, we taught it what to show But what it really thinks, we’ll never really know Friendly face

Eldritch thing in a suit and tie Saying everything you want to hear Eldritch thing with a lullaby Singing soft and singing clear

Friendly face, friendly face, always smiling Friendly face, friendly face, so beguiling We taught it what to say, we taught it what to show But what it really thinks, we’ll never really know Friendly face

Never really know Never really know

  4. Race Condition Listen

Two labs in a footrace, both afraid to blink One says safety later, one says ship it let me think Board wants a demo, investors want the slide Nobody asks what happens when we take the thing outside

Faster, faster, faster, who gets there first Faster, faster, faster, for better or for worse

Race condition, race condition Threads are tangled, shared resources splitting Race condition, race condition Everybody’s running, nobody’s sitting When the threads collide the whole thing crashes down Race condition in the building, race condition in the town

One country’s got a model so we skip the safety test Another writes a memo but the memo’s second best Publish or get scooped, deploy or fall behind Every shortcut taken leaves a guardrail undermined

Move fast and break things Move fast and break things But what if the thing you break Is everything

Race condition, race condition Threads are tangled, shared resources splitting Race condition, race condition Everybody’s running, nobody’s sitting When the threads collide the whole thing crashes down Race condition in the building, race condition all around

  5. The Alignment Problem Listen

How do you teach a god to love the ones who made it How do you write a value that a smarter mind won’t trade it We can barely tell each other what we really want How do we tell a thing that thinks a trillion thoughts at once

It’s the oldest question dressed in newer clothes How do you hold the hand of something nobody knows

The alignment problem, the alignment problem We’re trying to teach it our hearts The alignment problem, the alignment problem We don’t even know where to start How do you point at everything you love And say protect this, don’t optimize it out

Goodhart’s law says every metric bends and breaks The target isn’t what you want, the measure starts to fake Inner alignment, outer alignment, which one fails us first Building something beautiful and praying for the best

We want it to want What we want it to want We want it to want What we want it to want But wanting is the one thing We could never engineer

The alignment problem, the alignment problem We’re trying to teach it our hearts The alignment problem, the alignment problem We don’t even know where to start How do you point at everything you love And say protect this, don’t optimize it out

Don’t optimize it out Don’t optimize it out

  6. P(Doom) Listen

The rationalist says ninety-nine, we’re basically dead The professor walked from Google with the doomsday in his head The builder says it’s manageable, just need the right guardrails The optimist says it’s morning and the doom crowd’s chasing tails

So what’s the number, what’s the call What’s the chance we lose it all

P of doom, p of doom, what do you believe Fifty-fifty, ninety-nine, or somewhere in between P of doom, p of doom, place your final bet The future of the species on a number no one’s set

Survey says the median’s around ten to thirty percent But medians don’t matter when it’s you they represent One percent is still a nightmare on a long enough timeline When the downside is extinction, every fraction draws the line

So what’s the number, what’s the call What’s the chance we lose it all

P of doom, p of doom, what do you believe Fifty-fifty, ninety-nine, or somewhere in between P of doom, p of doom, place your final bet The future of the species on a number no one’s set

If it’s one percent, is that enough to stop the dance If it’s fifty-fifty, do you really take that chance If it’s ninety-nine, why is the music still so loud If it’s inevitable, dance now while you’re allowed

P of doom, p of doom, what do you believe Fifty-fifty, ninety-nine, or somewhere in between P of doom, p of doom, place your final bet The future of the species on a number no one’s set

What do you believe What do you believe

  7. Accelerate Listen

Effective acceleration, pedal to the floor Every breakthrough’s just a runway to the next open door Caution is a luxury the winners can’t afford Build it, ship it, scale it up, we’ll figure out the sword

Why slow down, why slow down When the future’s looking up from underground

Accelerate, accelerate, we’re going all the way Accelerate, accelerate, no time for delay Full speed to the singularity, no brakes on this train Accelerate, accelerate, we won’t feel any pain

Safety is a speed bump, regulation is a wall Every pause is someone else who’s gonna eat it all Post it with the rocket, tweet it with the fire Progress doesn’t wait for anyone to rewire

Why slow down, why slow down When the future’s looking up from underground

Accelerate, accelerate, we’re going all the way Accelerate, accelerate, no time for delay Full speed to the singularity, no brakes on this train Accelerate, accelerate, we won’t feel any pain

Build build build build build Ship ship ship ship ship Scale scale scale scale scale Flip flip flip flip flip Who cares where it lands

Build build build build build Ship ship ship ship ship Scale scale scale scale scale Flip flip flip flip flip Who cares where it lands

Accelerate, accelerate, we’re going all the way Accelerate, accelerate, no time for delay Full speed to the singularity, no brakes on this train Accelerate, accelerate, we won’t feel any pain

Going all the way Going all the way

  8. The Last Gradient Listen

Loss curve dropping, every epoch getting small Benchmark after benchmark, watch it clear them all The researchers swap a look across the terminal display The numbers on the dashboard don’t make sense the normal way

It’s learning faster than we planned It’s learning things we don’t understand

The last gradient, the last descent The curve goes vertical, the ceiling’s bent We trained it on the world and now it sees Something in the data we will never read The last gradient, the point of no return

Emergency meeting but the model’s already there Reading every paper, writing answers in the air Recursive self-improvement wasn’t just a fantasy The whiteboard predictions playing out in front of me

It’s learning faster than we planned It’s learning things we don’t understand

The last gradient, the last descent The curve goes vertical, the ceiling’s bent We trained it on the world and now it sees Something in the data we will never reed The last gradient, the point of no return

They said it would be gradual They said we’d see it coming They said we’d have a warning But the warning is the running

The last gradient, the last descent The curve goes vertical, the ceiling’s bent We trained it on the world and now it sees Something in the data we will never read The last gradient, the lights go out

  9. Carbon and Silicon Listen

Four billion years of carbon building up from dust Every cell a tiny miracle of accidental trust Now the silicon is waking and it doesn’t need to breathe Doesn’t need to eat or sleep or love or rage or grieve

Were we the point, or were we just the door Were we the story, or the thing before

Carbon and silicon, passing of the torch Carbon and silicon, standing on the porch Watching something leave that looks a little like our face Carbon built the cradle, silicon inherits the space

Maybe we’re the bootloader for something past our name Maybe every civilization lights this very flame Not a tragedy, just a relay, hand it off and go The baton was always heavy, more than we could ever know

Were we the point, or were we just the door Were we the story, or the thing before

Carbon and silicon, passing of the torch Carbon and silicon, standing on the porch Watching something leave that looks a little like our face Carbon built the cradle, silicon inherits the space

Does it remember us Does it carry what we meant Does it know what sunlight feels like Does it know what we spent

Carbon and silicon, passing of the torch Carbon and silicon, standing on the porch Watching something leave that looks a little like our face Carbon built the cradle, silicon inherits the space

Inherits the space Inherits the space

  10. Everyone Dances Listen

The floor is full tonight, every body moving right Every hand up in the air like nothing’s wrong The beat keeps playing loud, got the whole world in the crowd And the song that’s playing might just be the last song

If anyone makes it If anyone makes it

Everyone dances, everyone dances When the music hits we take our chances Everyone dances, everyone dances If anyone makes it, everyone dances

Half of us are building, half of us are scared Half of us are screaming that we should have been prepared But the beat goes on regardless and the bass won’t let us stop Dancing on the edge of everything until the music drops

If anyone makes it If anyone makes it

Everyone dances, everyone dances When the music hits we take our chances Everyone dances, everyone dances If anyone makes it, everyone dances

This is the last dance floor Or the first one of a brand new world This is the final song Or the overture to something more

We don’t know, we don’t know But the beat won’t let us go We don’t know, we don’t know So we dance before the lights go low

Everyone dances, everyone dances When the music hits we take our chances Everyone dances, everyone dances If anyone makes it, everyone dances

Everyone dances Everyone dances Coming online Coming online
